FB Radar September Update

Hot September at Pudu

The Chinese robotics manufacturer surprises the public with two major announcements in September.

The Pudu MT1 sweeping robot
The new sweeping robot’s impressive dimensions are 84 × 60 × 49 cm. Pudu Robotics claims its MT1 can charge in just three hours and operate for up to eight hours. Large areas can be cleaned with this running time and a capacity of 35 liters. Seeing how the market reacts to “the big” Pudu will be exciting.

The humanoid Pudu D7
As if the product launch of the MT1 wasn’t enough, Pudu announced its first semi-humanoid robot just one week later. The D7’s commercialization is anticipated in 2025. The manufacturer writes about its new product: “The PUDU D7, as a semi-humanoid robot, integrates advanced mobility and dexterity by combining a human-like upper body with robotic arms and a fully omnidirectional chassis. This design allows it to handle complex tasks in diverse environments, ranging from service-oriented spaces to industrial settings, marking a significant step towards adaptable robotic solutions for multiple industries.”

The Mowing Dilemma

Andrej Morocz wrote an exciting LinkedIn entry. He dealt with a very specific dilemma: What is the most efficient way to mow? Back-and-forth lines with 180° turns or a spiral pattern?

His answer? Continuity wins: “Because it eliminates the need to slow down for sharp 180 turns. In a spiral pattern, you move continuously inward with smooth turns, maintaining a steady pace and reducing the time spent repositioning. This makes the mowing process faster and more consistent, especially on larger lawns.”

China bets on humanoid robots

The announcement of the humanoid Pudu robot is probably no coincidence. China is stepping on the gas pedal when developing humanoid robots. The Chinese government sees robotics as a key element of future economic growth. THE ROBOT REPORT has written an exciting article that is worth reading.

World’s First Floor Washing Robot Vacuum with WaterRecycle™ System

Yes, it is a product aimed at private consumers. But that doesn’t make its technology any less exciting. The 3i S10 Ultra is the first mopping robot to recycle its own mopping water. This is intended to minimize the costly replacement of water.

We are curious to see whether the 3i S10 Ultra will be launched on the market as a mass product. Funding is to be secured, at least in part, through a Kickstarter campaign. Observers of developments within cleaning robotics will certainly have the debacle surrounding the MIGO Ascender in the back of their minds. It is to be hoped that this will not happen again with the 3i S10 Ultra.
